As I age, one of the most important lessons that I have learned is to be grateful for what you are given. I have so much to be thankful for from this trip.
...I must say, a lot of things don’t bother me, but once I saw how touched and grateful the community was, and how touched my peers were, it was hard for me not to shed a tear or two...

Excited to learn the basic steps of reading and writing, members of the Pau Amerelo Community attend the Park University School for Education class. Teaching basic educational literacy, Professor Ann Wentz and Cathy Sillman and Laura Lane from the Professional Development Center enjoy sharing the knowledge that we sometimes take for granted. Singing songs like E-I-E-I-O were some of the highlights of the class, and seeing the smiles on students faces made it that much more satisfying. “I truly feel I will never be the same after this,” says Sillman. “I feel like I have so much and they have so little, but so much to give.”
